ACCELERATED LIFETIME TEST

Goal

In this experiment, the ventilator with 3D-printed bellows has to undergo the worst possible settings that the machine can be set to.

This is to check whether or not the bellows and the motor survive the harsh conditions and to identify the upper limits of the Breathney prototype. This test is also used to eliminate the weakest links in the machine, effectively.

Setup

The ventilator with 3D-printed bellows preset settings are set to:

PP61 cmH20
RR60 BPM
Vt880 ml
I/E1:1

Measurements and conclusion

The testing is still ongoing. At this point in time the machine has gone through 1 million cycles without visible physical wear on the bellows.

The motor had to be replaced due to a broken gearbox. The current hypothesis on the failure is the crank repeatedly running into the physical endstop (wear is visible on this endstop). Further testing should confirm this theory.
