GOAL
The goal of this test is to observe the effects of heating the 3D-printed parts used for housing the sensor boards. These parts were created using SLS in PA12 nylon.
SETUP
The parts (Material: PA12 (SLS)) was heated at a temperature of 120 ° C for one hour.
This test was then repeated at 150 ° C.
OBSERVATIONS
After heating up the part for one hour, the part was allowed to cool down. The part returned to its original dimensions.
MEASURED DIMENSIONS
Dimensions ( mm ) | T (20 ° C) | T (120 ° C) | T (150 ° C) |
diameter D | 18.5 | 18.5 | 18.5 |
length L1 | 103.9 | 104.9 | 104.9 |
length L2 | 74.6 | 75.2 | 75.2 |
RESULT
After first heating a PA12 3D print at 120 ° C for an hour and allowing it to cool back, all dimensions of the piece being measured remained unchanged.
When tested at 150 °, a slight discoloration of the part was observed, but the dimensions of the piece remained unchanged.
